Head of Department, Mathematics and Statistics
- Strategic leadership position
- Competitive salary with exceptional benefits
- Innovative and progressive environment
Macquarie University has never been afraid of tackling the big issues, standing at the forefront of change and innovation. We believe that success stems from collaborating with the right people on the right issues. In appointing our next Head of Department, Mathematics and Statistics, we are seeking a leader who can forge productive collaborations within the Department, across the Faculty and University, and with external partners.
Creating a high performing culture in which people thrive, the Head of Department will lead the way in delivering transformative teaching and learning that supports graduate employability, enhancing the research profile, and fostering partnerships with industry, government and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Head of Department will also contribute to the wider faculty leadership.
Known for the quality of its research and ideally located for developing strong connections with industry, the Department has undergone recent renewal with the merging of the disciplines of Mathematics and Statistics into one Department. The focus is now on building capacity and developing the next generation of teachers and researchers.
The role will be attractive to candidates with experience of leading transformative change in an academic environment, the capacity to inspire their team with a common purpose, strong relational skills and a respected record in research and teaching.
