Job description

The School of Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a Professor of Emergency Medicine. We a looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who has excellent leadership skills and a strong team buildings focus.

Duties will include:

  • Academic Leadership: providing professional leadership in assisting the Executive Dean of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences in both medical research, teaching and learning, student experience and knowledge transfer within the School and Trust.
  • Research and Scholarship: leading, developing and undertaking high quality programmes of research. Encouraging local, national and international research in close collaboration with all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Teaching: assisting in the teaching of students and junior clinical colleagues, contributing to CPD, outreach and public engagement activities of the School and to activities as an academic member of the School
  • Clinical provision: holding an Honorary Consultant in Emergency Medicine post with East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and contributing to clinical service provision in Emergency Medicine.Holding Full Registration with the GMC; MRCP; a PhD, MD or similar; and on the Medical Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine, the successful applicant will have a substantial track record of academic, research and educational experience and achievement in addition to an ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
