Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Applications are invited for two years Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London to work on the EPRSC funded project NEAT: NEtwork dATa plane measurements as first class primitive. The goal for the NEAT project is to develop new ideas and solutions to move network traffic analysis into the data plane. The position can be also renewed subject to funding availability.

The work is supported by Cisco Systems, VMware, CERN, and Barefoot Networks. The combined team has extensive experience developing and deploying novel software and hardware networking technologies, and seeks systems researches willing to contribute with new ideas and deployments.

The successful applicant at Research Assistant level must have an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Electric/Electronic Engineering or a related topic. Knowledge of Software Programming (e.g., Python, C) or Hardware Programming (e.g., Verilog, VHDL) is essential for this role. Experience with conducting research, understanding the research process and summarising findings is desirable.

The successful applicant at Postdoctoral Research Assistant level must have a PhD in Computer Science, Electric/Electronic Engineering or a related topic. Experience in Software Programming (e.g., Python, C) or Hardware Programming (e.g., Verilog, VHDL) and experience in Networking basics is essential for this role. Familiarity working with and developing using the full TCP/IP network stack and its associated protocols is also needed.

This is a full time fixed term post for 24 months starting 1 March 2020 or as soon as feasible after this date. For an appointment as a Research Assistant the starting salary will be in the range of £31,613 - £34,220 per annum inclusive of London allowance. For an appointment as a Postdoctoral Assistant the starting salary will be in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum inclusive of London allowance.
