The Centre for Experimental Medicine & Rheumatology William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University London on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Versus Arthritis is looking to appoint a Translational Research MSK Collaboration Operations Manager to play a significant role in the set up and delivery of the UK Musculoskeletal Translational Research Collaboration (UK MSK TRC). The post will form part of the UK MSK TRC core team working closely with the Collaboration’s appointed Chair, based at Queen Mary, Versus Arthritis and the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) based in Twickenham.

The J-TRC is being refreshed as the UK Musculoskeletal (MSK) TRC to bring together the Versus Arthritis UK (including devolved nation) investments with the NIHR investments in BRCs and Clinical Research Facilities with expertise in MSK. The net result will be to bind and align investment in MSK translational research, elevate it to a new level of ambition and focus UK-wide and drive cutting edge translational research to improve outcomes for patients.

The post-holder will support the Chair of the UK MSK TRC having responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the collaboration, being the first point of contact for related activities and lead in the development, setup and implementation of identified projects and work streams. The post-holder will work closely with NIHR colleagues, research theme leads, principal investigators, and NHS research delivery staff nationally across the collaboration. The successful applicant will have a biomedical science degree or equivalent expertise gained through previous employment in the life sciences sector and be a self-motivated individual with ability to demonstrate exceptional communication and relationship building skills. They will have significant experience of operational management across complex organisations and be able to build working relationships across a wide geographical spread.

Please note the post holder will be an employee of Queen Mary University of London and work closely with the UK MSK TRC Chair but the post will physically be based at the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure in their Twickenham Office. The post is full-time, fixed term until 31st June 2022.

Starting salary will be in the range of £37,411 - £44,015 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan and family-friendly working.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
