Main duties and responsibilities

The PhD Candidate at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management will analyze pathways to a sustainable mobility system. The PhD Candidate will develop and extend mathematical programming models and use them for holistic analyses across transport, energy, other sectors, and the broader economy, in support of the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon transport sector.

The focus of the research will be on the transport sectors and the boundaries and interactions with other actors and sectors, and the energy system. Specifically, we wish to include sector interactions, environmental and climate effects, and to reflect consumer behavior such as technology choice and usage, and policy uptake.

Potential research questions include: How does the reshaping of the transport sector affect the broader economy? How do developments and policies in the transport sector interact with the increasingly more renewable and decentralized energy system?  How robust are effects when considering a life-cycle perspective rather than a narrow sector focus?
