Are you interested in expanding your teaching role and becoming involved with undergrad teaching? The JCU MBBS program is currently looking for doctors who have an interest in teaching our students in Cairns. Commencing in January 2020, we have a variety of casual and fractional teaching roles available including:

Clinical Skills (Mondays from 8:45 - 12:45)

Working with the students in small groups and using volunteers from the community as models you will be teaching the fundamentals of clinical examination skills and patient communication pertaining to the various organ systems.

Clinical Teaching Associate Program (CTA) – female internal and breast exams (three Wednesdays per 6-week term) & Male Teaching Associate Program (MTA) – male internal exams (one or two Wednesdays per 6-week term) – Clinician role

The Clinical Teaching Associates (CTA) and Male Teaching Associates (MTA) programs are unique to MBBS 4 and are designed to teach students how to perform intimate examinations on women and men under the guidance of an experienced clinician. Clinicians facilitate these sessions, however, Teaching Associates, trained by the JCU Clinical Skills Unit, teach the intimate examinations, using their own bodies as models, to medical students. The emphasis is on good communication skills and examination skills.

CPC Tutors – 3 hours per week - 1x3 hours or 2x1.5 hours (flexible to your schedule between 730am and 6pm)

During these tutorials you work through important aspects of pathology, basic sciences, clinical skills, investigations, process of care, and the rural, remote, tropical, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander components of the case. Materials and cases are prepared for you each term and teaching times are flexible to your schedule.
