London Metropolitan University is changing.

As part of the Vice Chancellor’s new Strategic Plan, we wish to build significantly on our existing areas of world-leading research. To support our vision we will make a number of appointments across the main areas of strength namely: Art and Design; Area Studies; Business, Economics, and Place, People and Organisation; Computing; Education; Health Sciences; Mathematics; Politics and International Relations; Social Sciences, including Sociology and Social Work; and Psychology. We are also looking for scholars who can contribute to our research culture in interdisciplinary ways. Consequently, we may show a preference for those who work on diversity and social justice; diasporas and migration; with big data and open data; with interests in artificial intelligence (in its scientific, computational and humanistic dimensions); health, ageing and wellbeing in science and social science research; public policy, governance and community.

Do you want to join us on the next part of our exciting journey as one of the UK’s most socially-inclusive and diverse universities? Successful candidates may be at any stage of their own personal development, from early-career researchers to established professors. Senior appointments will drive our growing research culture; early-career researchers will be fully supported to develop their full potential.

We are also interested in research of the highest quality and research that connects with our many partners in London and beyond. Those with an understanding of how to exploit knowledge exchange, impact and partnership potential may also be preferred. They may bring new expertise within our fields of excellence or may offer new directions. Interested candidates will be driven and ambitious and will be able to demonstrate a willingness to contribute to all facets of our University’s intellectual and educational life.

The resources in our three locations in central London are rich. We have a business Accelerator that provides excellent opportunities for our staff in computing, business, science and arts to take their ideas in exciting new directions. Our libraries include the Library of the Trade Union Congress and the Archive of the Irish in Britain. We provide financial support so that researchers in all our fields of strength can undertake research. Our research groups and centres are underpinned strategically and financially. We have a Research Office and are opening a new Graduate School to support you and your students. In September we are launching a framework for showcasing our interdisciplinary research to recognise and showcase the work we do at the intersection of subjects and disciplines.
