Applications are invited for a Research Assistant / Research Associate to work on machine-to-machine communications for neuromorphic vision sensing data. This is part of a research programme: Internet of Silicon Retinas (IOSIRE): machine to machine communications for neuromorphic visual sensing data, an EPSRC funded Consortium on the design, analysis and evaluation (analytical, simulation, emulation and hardware) of new methods and protocols for transmission of visual data over the Internet of Things.  Research will be concentrated on designing new adaptive application-aware methods, across Physical, MAC, Network and Transport layers, to optimize energy efficiency, delay and throughput for visual data transmission over M2M networks. This project will also investigate optimization of adaptive edge processing and cloud computing of visual data.

We invite applications from MSc/PhD (or equivalent) level candidates in a relevant topic of wireless communication. Having, and with knowledge and experience in topics such as cross layer optimization in M2M and drone networks, rateless codes, machine learning, full-duplex and video communication and cognitive networks, will be desirable. In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a record of peer-reviewed high-quality publications, ability to work in a group, plan and manage research networking and meetings.

Research Assistant

The salary will be paid at Grade 5, £32,676 to £37, 297 per annum, inclusive of £3,500 per annum London Allowance.

Research Associate

The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £38,304 to £41,517 per annum, inclusive of £3,500 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 8 months.

This is a full-time post.

The selection process will include a panel interview, and a presentation.
