Position Description

The Nutrition and Global Health Program in the Department of Global Health and Population, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with a public health background and strong applied research and quantitative skills to join its team to contribute to the strategic development and implementation of the program’s research activities related to Adolescent Health and Nutrition. The program is conducting several global health research and training projects with partners in resource limited settings in sub- Saharan Africa and Asia. The program’s research focus includes global health priorities including maternal and child health, and infectious diseases, with emphasis on nutritional factors. Working closely with the Program’s faculty, senior managers and in coordination with program partner institutions, this position will be undertaking a wide range of activities within the program including proposal development, manuscripts development and advancing the goals of existing projects.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead systematic reviews of the literature and analyses of data¬ examining adolescent health and nutrition
  • Contribute to research implementation, data management and oversight in Boston and through site visits
  • Communicate with research partners on project-related issues including tracking progress of the project including IRB approvals, and other related activities.
  • Analyze datasets to examine research questions and contribute to the development of peer-reviewed publications
  • Co-author and publish abstracts, poster presentations, and research articles
  • Contribute to communication of program findings to general audiences
  • Support training activities of fellow researchers at partner institutions
  • Prepare technical reports to funders
  • Other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD/doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or data science. Candidates should also have the following:

  1. Strong quantitative, analytical, and writing skills
  2. Research experience
  3. Expert knowledge of SAS, Stata, or R
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, under supervision, and as part of a team are all necessary for this position.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in international research activities preferred
  • Experience liaising with Institutional Review Boards, other regulatory organizations, and academic and governmental institutions preferred
  • Excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Experience working independently, under supervision, and as part of a team; Strong attention to detail; Excellent time management skills; Goal and detail-oriented work style; Experience with meticulous and consistent follow through on projects are all preferred

This is a Boston based position and is funded for 18 months, with the possibility of extension.
