FINANCIAL OFFICERCompute Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL)-MIT-Air Force AI Innovation Accelerator, to perform comprehensive pre- and post-award financial research management. Will coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of proposals; advise program leadership and principal investigators on all aspects of financial and research administration; ensure compliance with program requirements and MIT and CSAIL’s policies and procedures; prepare reports, financial analyses, forecasting, and other relevant information; monitor expenditures, payroll distribution, and certification; analyze and track cost sharing and encumbrances; collaborate on post-award management; and enable other administrative aspects of the program. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; five years' accounting or finance experience (preferably in a university/hospital/nonprofit setting), with decision-making responsibility; experience with federal contract terms and conditions, administrative rules, cost principals, and regulations; experience working in pre- and post-award research administration and knowledge of budgeting theory and practices including reporting requirements and procedures related to federal, state and other related grants, cost accounting, government accounting, and auditing; familiarity with electronic research administration requirements; knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record-keeping, and reporting; proficiency with the analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of contractual terminology; financial management/forecasting skills; discretion and judgment with confidential information; ability to multitask, prioritize, and simultaneously manage numerous awards with concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the internet; knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: five years’ experience working with federal sponsors including NSF, DoD, and NIH; and experience with Cognos and BrioQuery. Job #18098-8
