Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Spine Surgery of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Ref.: 498859), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in relevant fields including medicine, surgery, biomedical engineering, physics, neuroscience, or a related discipline, with at least five years' work experience in clinical research and project management.  Solid research skills and track records, with focuses on cutting-edge orthopaedics and spine research including modelling and simulation, implant and bone interface, structural stability, automated diagnosis and prediction would be essential. Previous clinical or industrial work experience with good knowledge of RCT design and management, FDA/CE regulations, and patent drafting is desirable.  Applicants should be creative with new research ideas; be self-initiated and able to work independently; possess strong problem solving skills, excellent logical thinking and data sensitivity, as well as the ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team, apply for external competitive research grants, establish external collaborations, and coordinate translational research of the department.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
