Applications are invited for the role of Research Manager in the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The post will be shared across two research Institutes within the Medical School. The Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine aims to maintain and expand its international reputation as a centre of excellence for the study and advancement of epidemiology, preventive medicine and public health. The newly established Institute of Population Health Sciences is a world-class multidisciplinary grouping of academics, driving forward research and education to implement health system change for population benefit.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Institute Directors and Manager to provide high-level advice and support to the ongoing development and implementation of Institutes’ research strategies, enhancing the research environment, facilitating the delivery of strategic research objectives, and ensuring the management and analysis of data as required for internal and external reporting.
Applicants should be educated to degree level and have significant experience in supporting research grant administration and/or impact in a higher education institution, or research body, and have experience with advising on, or contributing to research bids as well as post award administration. They will also have a good understanding of REF and other research quality measures. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload.
The post is full time and fixed term for two years with an expected start date of 1 December 2019. Starting salary will be in the range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
The role will be based at both the Charterhouse Square and Whitechapel campuses.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
