The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies is the largest criminology school in the UK with an established presence in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education, complemented by a successful applied criminology research profile. Within the subject area, the Institute is ranked 5th place nationally in the 2020 Guardian Course Guide for Criminology. The University has been awarded Gold within the Teaching Excellence Framework.

As part of a national consortium of Higher Education providers, we have secured the tender to provide a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, and a Degree Holder Entrant Programme, for newly recruited Police Constables in Sussex Police, Hampshire Constabulary and Surrey Police. These innovative courses will be run via e-learning with associated face-to-face masterclasses. This contract success has led to the need for additional academic staff capacity in a range of roles (as above) to deliver these important programmes and they are presented as Lecturing opportunities.

These post will be based at the University of Portsmouth. Travel to off-campus teaching locations will be required in all cases.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.

This role requires access to police premises and engagement with police officers and staff, as such we will require the successful candidate to undertake the 'Non Police Personnel Vetting' (NPPV) process.

Please note that this job does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) to qualify for an employer-sponsored visa and therefore unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
