An outstanding opportunity exists for an exceptional academic and inspirational leader to take up the role of Executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University. 

The Faculty of Science and Engineering is central to Macquarie’s spirit of discovery and currently serves nearly 6,000 students. With a strong commitment, across both research and teaching, to addressing the big issues faced by society, Macquarie has led many significant initiatives over the years. The recent pairing of engineering and science in a single faculty means world-leading research discoveries in science can see direct technological applications. The Faculty is currently in a growth phase with a particular emphasis on building research achievement and is now seeking to appoint a new Executive Dean to lead through this exciting next stage of its evolution.

As a member of the Senior Executive Team, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Dean, Science and Engineering will provide strategic, innovative and accountable leadership to a complex, multidisciplinary Faculty. They will lead on research, teaching & learning and engagement.

The University seeks to appoint a new Executive Dean who has a substantial career in research, a strong track record in academic leadership and a deep understanding of the importance of high-quality teaching. The role will focus on accelerating how the Faculty’s education programs transform the lives of students and on accelerating the Faculty’s performance in research.  She or he will be comfortable building relationships with key internal and external partners, creating and articulating a vision for the Faculty and providing inspirational leadership to staff.
