The Department of Computer & Information Sciences at Northumbria University is situated in a new state-of-the-art £7m Computer and Information Sciences building at the heart of our city centre campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, providing a stunning learning and teaching environment for students and staff.

The Department has research strengths in AI and machine learning, networks and cyber security, HCI and social computing, data science and information systems. You will contribute to an area of cyber security or digital forensics to further enhance research, enterprise and teaching. This will include designing, developing and delivering high quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce high quality academic outputs and inform teaching and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject.

We are seeking to make an appointment to complement and expand our research and teaching capability in the areas of cyber security or digital forensics. Northumbria has two well-established UG programmes in Computer and Digital Forensics and Computer Networks and Cyber Security as well as a specialist MSc in Cyber Security and is one of the earliest providers of such programmes in the UK.

The successful candidate must hold a first degree and be qualified to doctoral level in a relevant discipline, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. A proven ability to deliver high quality research and teaching is essential, together with an appropriate publication profile and track record of bidding for external income.
