The Department of Computer & Information Sciences at Northumbria University is situated in a new state-of-the-art £7m Computer and Information Sciences building at the heart of our city centre campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, providing a stunning learning and teaching environment for students and staff.

The Department has research strengths in AI and machine learning, networks and cyber security, HCI and social computing, data science and information systems. High quality applicants who can strengthen one or more of these areas are encouraged to apply; however, we welcome applications from any relevant area of computer or information science and particularly encourage applicants who are working at the intersection(s) of computer and information science and other disciplines.

You will contribute to computer and information sciences to further enhance research, enterprise and teaching.  This will include designing, developing and delivering high quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce high quality academic outputs and inform teaching, and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject.

The successful candidate must hold a first degree and be qualified to doctoral level in a relevant discipline, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. A proven ability to deliver high quality research and teaching is essential, together with an appropriate publication profile and track record of bidding for external income.
