The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is passionate about the principles and applications of Science and Technology in all its forms and strives to be excellent in research, teaching and innovation.

Working within the Department of Applied Sciences, in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, you will provide expertise in the area of Nutrition, to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities.
Nutrition is an integral part of the Department’s research and teaching portfolio and our research-informed teaching supports all of our undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

The department has state-of-the-art facilities for research, including recently refurbished well equipped laboratories for food technology, organoleptic testing, sample preparation and analysis laboratory, alongside laboratories for biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology, microscopy suite and tissue culture, complemented by high performance computing and dedicated facilities for metabolomics, proteomics and genomics (including MySeq and PacBio sequencing platforms). As a senior Academic colleague, you will assist the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor to maintain, enhance and improve the University’s national and international reputation in your academic field. You must demonstrate continuing academic attainment and achievement and provide academic leadership (of your subject and associated colleagues), through active contribution to your discipline and to the life and work of the Faculty and the wider University. This will include contributing to significant change within practice, the discipline, profession and/or community at regional, national and international level.

To be successful in this role you will have externally recognised research outputs of a quality that are internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and demonstrable success in securing research funding. You should also demonstrate academic leadership experience and strong standing with external bodies and networks in your field.

We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with expertise in molecular nutrition or health intervention, who are also a registered nutritionist. Applicants with an interest in collaboration across discipline boundaries are encouraged to apply.
