An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Education and Social Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland. The School of Education and Social Sciences is a multi-discipline School The post offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to be immersed in a rich academic environment that recognises quality in education, research and enterprise, and international engagement.

This post will play a central role in delivering an excellent and research-based student experience, and applicants will have a demonstrated ability to teach to a high standard, contributing to the teaching programme of the department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  It is essential therefore that candidates are knowledgeable in contemporary pedagogies, particularly in relation to co-creation and active learning, and familiar with online learning environments and the principles of digital education.  In addition you will be engaged in cross/interdisciplinary working and programme design and development to support positive results in attainment, student experience and graduate destinations.  An internationalised experience is central to the UWS student experience and you will also support initiatives for staff and students to engage in international activities.

Research is key aspect of the role, and the successful candidate will produce and publish excellent research outputs commensurate with the stage of career and evidence an ability to attract independent research funding to support this work. 

Candidates will have an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Sociology or Politics and will be qualified to doctoral level.  A postgraduate qualification in education/learning and teaching and Higher Education Academy Fellowship are highly desirable.  Applications are invited from any area of the Social Sciences but especially those with experience and qualifications in quantitative methods.  Candidates will also have developed capabilities in collaborative working and be committed to high professional standards in all areas of responsibility.
