The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in »Mathematical Finance« to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).

Scientific environment

The professorship is part of the TUM Department of Mathematics. With several strong research groups and leading financial and insurance industries in the Munich Region, a stimulating research environment is guaranteed.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the field of financial mathematics using methods from econometrics / data science and stochastics / optimization. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs offered by the department as well as courses for other TUM departments.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected as well as an interest in cooperation with the financial industry.
