(Spring semester 2020)

Department of Visual Studies

The Department of Visual Studies (VS) offers a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree programme centred on three core subjects: Aesthetics, Art History, and Film Studies. Courses in these theoretical and historical areas are supplemented with studio courses, internships, service-learning opportunities and other co-curricular activities. We admit about 30 undergraduate majors and a small number of M.Phil. and Ph.D. students each academic year. Launched in 2006, the Artist-in-Residence Programme brings students into contact with a range of art and film practitioners with expertise in areas such as filmmaking, ceramics, drawing, painting, photography and new media.  A considerable number of artists from Hong Kong and abroad were invited to teach studio arts for undergraduate students, provide consultation, give public talks and organise exhibitions or film screenings together with Lingnan students. For more information about the Artist-in-Residence Programme, please visit https://www.ln.edu.hk/visual/.
