The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Professor in » Health Economics « W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professor; to begin as soon as possible.

Scientific environment

The professorship belongs to the Department of Sport and Health Sciences. The scientific focus of the Department in research and teaching lies on prevention and health promotion through lifestyle-related changes, especially through physical activity. Establishing multidisciplinary collaboration within the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and with other TUM Departments (in particular with the TUM School of Medicine and with the TUM School of Management) is expected.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of health economics in the area of health promotion and prevention of diseases. The focus of the research activities will be on economic evaluation. Of specific interest is the evaluation of interventions to promote health and prevent chronic diseases in different contexts. The principles of the biopsychosocial model of health should be reflected in the empirical work. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. The teaching portfolio should cover current topics on health economics, such as the assessment of the benefits and costs of prevention programs (e.g. programs to reduce sedentariness and increase fitness).

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad and the proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract competitive third-party funding (e.g. EU, DFG, BMBF) are expected.
