Position Description
The Evergrande Center for Immunologic Diseases at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital is inviting applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
We seek an exceptional scientist who uses computational and data science methods to address fundamental or translational questions related to immunity and chronic inflammation.
Launched in 2014, the Evergrande Center comprises both basic and translational research programs focused on chronic inflammation underlying autoimmune, neurologic and metabolic diseases, and the environmental factors that trigger chronic inflammation. The Center has an ambitious ten-year growth plan, including faculty recruitment.
We are seeking an applicant with a strong track record of high-quality published work in the field of computational and quantitative biology. We seek individuals who leverage computational, quantitative and/or statistical methods to gain novel insights into the function and regulation of the immune system. The successful applicant should be well versed in the analysis of high-throughput immune-related datasets to generate meaningful, testable hypotheses and show accomplishments in the development and application of methodologies utilizing machine learning, statistical and algorithmic techniques. Applicants should have proposals for exciting lines of investigation related to immunity and inflammation. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and evidence of a creative, collegial and exceptional research track record.
While a track record of grant funding is desirable, it is not required.
The successful candidate will join the eight core faculty members (Vijay Kuchroo, Arlene Sharpe, Ana Anderson, Christophe Benoist, Jun Huh, Diane Mathis, Roni Nowarski, Howard Weiner) of the Evergrande Center for Immunologic Diseases, where s/he will direct a program of independent research in a collegial and collaborative environment. The position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific resources. The appointment will be with the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Department of Immunology at Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate will be provided laboratory space in the Hale Building for Transformative Medicine, and a customary start-up package. The position provides the opportunity to teach exceptional undergraduate, graduate and medical students with strong interests in immunology and computational biology. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other local institutions.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD and a track record demonstrating successful research.
Special Instructions
For consideration, please submit a cover letter, C.V. (including a full bibliography), a concise 2-page summary of research accomplishments, and a 2-page summary of future research interests.
Applicants should arrange for letters of recommendation from three reviewers who will receive separate instructions from the portal, once an application has been submitted.
All materials, including letters of recommendation, are due by the application deadline of May 15, 2019.
