Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. The post is funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK for an initial period of 2 years and will examine the role of defective endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-mitochondria signalling in dementia. The project will seek to determine whether ER-mitochondria signalling is damaged in human dementia tissues and transgenic mouse models, and whether correcting this damage has therapeutic benefits. Part of the project will aim to identify novel drugs that correct damaged ER-mitochondria signalling in dementia and will involve collaborations with industrial partners.

Experience in working with transgenic mouse models, advanced microscopy, biochemical, cell and molecular biology approaches including experimental manipulation of neurons would be advantageous. Knowledge of defective signaling processes in dementia and related disorders will also be useful. The successful applicant will join an established research group headed by Professor Chris Miller and Dr Wendy Noble, see https://kclpure.kcl.ac.uk/portal/chris.miller.html

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years or until 30 April 2022.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

The selection process will include a panel interview and a research presentation.
