Overview:

A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in the Crespo-Otero group (https://crespootero.wordpress.com), to work on the project “Understanding the effect of aggregation in light-emitting organic crystals”.

This project is funded by Leverhulme Trust. This research programme will focus on the development of computational chemistry strategies towards the design of efficient phosphorescent crystals. The project involves the investigation of nonradiative mechanisms in model materials and the implementation of methods to consider excited states in the crystal environment. The work will be based at the Mile End Campus, Queen Mary University of London.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent qualification/experience) in computational chemistry, physics and/or materials science. The post is part-time for 30 hours per week and is fixed term for 36 months.  The expected start date is late- January 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The salary is £36,098 per annum and is inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata) and a pension scheme.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
