The Department/ College

The Department of Social Sciences, which is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, is an interdisciplinary department that offers undergraduate programs in International Studies and Emirati Studies and graduate programs in Diplomacy and International Affairs (MA), Public Administration (Executive Masters), and Judicial Studies (MA). The majors in the College take a broad, multidisciplinary approach to the study of politics,society,economy,and law at the local, regional and international levels.

The Opportunity

The Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a full time faculty position (open rank) in International Relations, with a background in the Arab Gulf/Middle East. Candidates with an interest in GCC economic and political integration are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate-level courses, including courses on Introduction to International Relations, Politics of the Gulf,International Law, and Comparative Political Systems.
Other courses include those related to the candidate’s area of specialization, and graduate level courses.

The Requirements

Candidates should have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and the capacity to teach and research in an interdisciplinary environment. Evidence of teaching and research excellence and experience is important, including the potential to supervise thesis
projects.
