Department : University Library And Collections
Position Type : Professional/Senior Management
Grade 8, £41,526 - £49,553
Senior Manager: Systems
The Library’s Research and Systems Team, under the leadership of the Head of Research and Systems, provide services in two key areas of departmental activity. Our services are developing to support scholarly communications and the move to open research, advising on best practice in areas such as research data management and bibliometrics. Our systems underpin the core activity of the Library and University but extend to enabling innovation in education and research, particularly digital scholarship.
This role will provide leadership to a team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the IT systems which underpin the department’s services, coaching and supporting team members to ensure they are motivated and effective. This role will give an experienced manager the opportunity to help shape the vision and direction for our IT systems, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team. The library has a strong record of innovation, being an early adopter of IIIF technology and pioneering the inclusion of library, archives and museum materials in a single discovery interface. As well as managing major projects in conjunction with the central IT service (CIS), the role will continue to foster innovation. This will involve developing relationships beyond the department, with units such as ARC (Advanced Research Computing) and DCAD (the Durham Centre for Academic Development).
This role is Full Time and Permanent.
