The Electrochemical Surface Science group at Lancaster University is looking to employ a research associate at the postdoctoral level for a period of 12 months on a full-time basis. You will be in charge of developing electrochemical non-contact atomic force microscopy (EC-NC-AFM) and improving the performance of an existing electrochemical scanning tunnelling microscope (EC-STM).

Key aspects of the work will be to directly image adsorption, self-organisation and reactivity of reactive species on various 2-dimensional materials, including hexagonal boron nitride.  The project is a collaboration with KU Leuven (Belgium) and is funded by the Austrian Fund of Scientific Research (FWF) and the Fund Scientific Research–Flanders (FWO).

You should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline. We expect high-level experience with scanning probe techniques and with handling 2-dimensional materials, reflected by a strong publication record, previous research mobility and contributions at scientific conferences.
