SENIOR LEADERSHIP GIVING OFFICERSchool of Engineering (SoE)-Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to create and execute strategic development initiatives to raise awareness, strengthen relationships, and garner financial support for the number-one ranked mechanical engineering department in the world. Mechanical Engineering is committed to solving some of our world’s greatest challenges, including health of the planet and global energy sustainability. Will manage, build, and execute successful fund-raising strategies for a mature portfolio, creating individualized solicitation plans leading to major and principal gifts in support of MIT's fund-raising priorities, capital projects, and other departmental priorities; collaborate with the department head, associate department heads, key faculty, investigators, administrative officer, communications officer, and other staff to increase MechE’s visibility and establish a thriving community of supporters, including philanthropic and industry partnerships; collaborate with MIT’s central prospect management teams and colleagues within MIT’s School of Engineering Resource Development group and MIT’s Office of Corporate Relations to identify and engage prospective donors and industry partners; engage in face-to-face donor/industry partner/prospect visits and strategically orchestrate meetings and other interactions between faculty/staff with prospects, donors, and industry partners; and draft high-level proposals for six to eight figure gifts.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (MBA/M.S. preferred), preferably in a technical, engineering, or scientific field; five years’ direct fund-raising experience, preferably with a higher education organization; excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management, time management, and written and oral communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects with confidentiality and discretion; and a high level of computer competency, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A proven record of successfully cultivating and soliciting six-figure gifts is highly desirable. Job #17994-11

Must be able to work evening and occasional weekend hours with advance notice. Travel required ~20% of the time.
