Grade 7 (£33,797 - £40,322)
Durham University has undertaken a significant review of its professional support to academic departments. One of the outcomes is investment in the establishment of an integrated ‘Finance Hub’ for each faculty to ensure consistent and high quality financial support to a group of academic departments.
The Finance Manager will work towards delivering high quality financial support to academic department(s), staff and students as well as external stakeholders, collaborators, sponsors etc. They will work with colleagues in relevant central PSS Divisions, particularly the Finance Business Partner but also other colleagues in the University Finance Office, Procurement, Payroll, HR, Research and Innovation Services (RIS) etc. to ensure that staff, PSS colleagues and students in academic departments receive the necessary advice and guidance to ensure compliance with financial regulatory, policy and contractual obligations and have the relevant financial information to plan and deliver activities that will deliver the School’s strategic objectives with respect to research and teaching.
The Finance Manager will manage professional service staff across two or more departments, ensuring the provision of an efficient administrative service; supporting a wide range of teaching, learning and research activities; in support of all staff, students and external stakeholders as required; ensuring the end-user experience is at the forefront of delivery. Some of the activities will involve work of a highly confidential nature and so a professional work ethic is a pre-requisite.
