Teaching Assistant for Common Core Curriculum Course in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 498625) (to commence on January 1, 2020 for six months, with the possibility of renewal)

The University of Hong Kong has established a Common Core Curriculum (CCC) for all undergraduates to begin in September 2012. The Common Core has four Areas of Inquiry: Scientific & Technological Literacy; Humanities; Global Issues; and China: Culture, State & Society that span the ten academic Faculties of HKU. The medium of instruction is English. Information about the Common Core Curriculum can be viewed at http://tl.hku.hk/common-core-curriculum.

The CCC course “Globalization in Question: Human and Economic Consequences” is designed to introduce students to the origins and development of globalization broadly defined.  It explores how globalization affects developed and developing countries and cities around the world, which will enable students to understand how their own lives and personal choices are shaped by market forces and global interconnectedness.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Education, Sociology, Economics, Political Science Philosophy or other relevant studies in Humanities or Social Sciences.  Experience in teaching at secondary or tertiary level would be an advantage.

The appointee will conduct small-group tutorials, mark assignments/examination scripts, prepare teaching materials, supervise student work, and undertake other tasks as assigned. The appointee will work at the Academic Unit of Social Contexts and Policies of Education (SCAPE) in the Faculty of Education.

Information about the Faculty can be obtained at http://www.hku.hk/education. Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Nutsa Kobakhidze  (email: nutsak@hku.hk).

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload a cover letter and an up-to-date C.V.  Closes October 14, 2019.
