Brief Description            

To provide high quality research support and undertake internationally competitive research aimed at publication thereby contributing to the academic and research mission of the University.

Since the research assistant position is for a limited time, the work experience is transitional to becoming a professional researcher or a graduate student, the research assistant is expected to try their best to acquire the varied skills necessary to advance their career with guidance from the advisor. These skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to conduct independent research, the ability to present research plans and findings in a convincing style, both in oral and written modes of communication, the ability to understand research group management, and the ability to establish contacts and network with colleagues pursuing a similar research agenda.

Detailed Description            

1. Conduct internationally competitive research in the area of wearable devices for health monitoring.
2. Contribute to publishing research results in top tier journal and conferences.
3. Track project milestones and deliverable in coordination with the principal investigator and senior research staff.
4. Interface with project sponsors at progress and review meetings.
5. Mentor undergraduate students into the design, implementation, and testing of electronic interfaces to bio-medical sensors.
6. Use and advise on state-of-the-art electronic design environment and testing tools 

Job Requirements            

Required Qualifications

1. BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent.
2. Solid background in microprocessors, micro-controllers, and assembly programming.
3. Solid background with hardware-description language and FPGA design methodologies.
4. Solid communication and presentation skills.
5. Solid English technical writing skills.

Required Experience

1. Experience with the assembly and C programming of ultra-low power microcontrollers such as TI MSP403
2. Experience with the use of state-of-the-art FPGA tools.
3. Experience with electronic sensor interfaces.
4. Experience with VLSI digital design is a plus.
