About the position
We have a vacancy for a Postdoc position in clinical epidemiology of coeliac disease.
This position is a fixed term, half time (50%) position for 4 years starting as soon as possible.
The department and research group
This Postdoc position is at HUNT Research Centre, Department of Public Health and Nursing, Levanger. For more information about HUNT Research Centre and the Department, see http://www.ntnu.edu/hunt and http://www.ntnu.edu/ism. The position is under the supervision of Associate Professor Eivind Ness-Jensen, https://www.ntnu.edu/employees/eivind.ness-jensen.
About the position
In this project, all participants of the forth waive of the population-based health study, Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT4), https://www.ntnu.edu/hunt4, are currently screened for coeliac disease using a serological assay on blood samples collected through the survey. The diagnosis is validated through endoscopy and tissue sampling to establish the true, population-based prevalence of coeliac disease. In addition, patient reported outcomes are assessed and tissue, blood, saliva and fecal samples are retrieved from all the participants with a new coeliac disease diagnosis. Bone mineral density measurements (DXA) and dental x-ray (OPG) are also performed. These data can also be linked to questionnaire data, anthropometric measurements and clinical chemical analyses from more than 30 years back in time, collected through previous HUNT studies. Moreover, genome-wide genetic data are also available on the participants and historical biological samples are stored and available at HUNT biobank.
The postdoc will contribute in this project by utilizing the clinical material collected in the project, including the endoscopic data, patient reported outcome measures, DXA and OPG scans.
The project is led by Eivind Ness-Jensen, Associate Professor at HUNT Research Centre and Consultant in Gastroenterology at Levanger Hospital. The project is performed through national and international collaboration with researchers at NTNU and Levanger Hospital, Oslo University and Oslo University Hospital, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden and University Medical Centre Groningen, the Netherlands.
