Job description

This is a vacancy for a Programme Officer, primarily located at our Burnley Campus, to join the Course Administration Service providing support for schools in relation to the data capture for the student record and associated administrative requirements.

There are six Hubs located across the main Preston campus, designed for the Course Administration Service (CAS) to deliver course administration and support for students and staff.  They range in size and support the delivery of the University's diverse curriculum.  Hubs provide front-line advice and guidance to students with queries relating to their course and administrative support to schools. This includes support for student enrolment, student module registration, maintenance of student records, administration of assessment boards and course quality assurance processes including those for professional bodies, in partnership with central teams in Academic Registry. The CAS support provided from our Burnley Campus currently relates back to Hubs at Preston which requires a collaborative and collegiate approach to ensure the specifics of the role and service are achieved.

As part of the Academic Registry, CAS contributes to the delivery of the University's strategic objectives particularly in relation to improving student retention.  CAS plays a significant role in assuring the quality of student data to ensure that the University's statutory data returns and internal management information needs are met.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to administer the business processes that support the student journey, working in liaison with administrative/academic staff, students and external stakeholders to ensure high quality support and output.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work consistently under pressure, be skilled in data inputting, checking and manipulation along with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.  They will have good attention to detail, people skills, be tactful, be able to maintain confidentiality and have an ability to focus on the accuracy of data.

Applicants will ideally have experience of working in programme administration in an HE/FE environment in creating and maintaining student records and have a full understanding of capturing and ensuring correct data. Must have a high level of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people on a daily basis.

Able to prioritise a busy workload and multitask, applicants must be flexible and a team player. You must be a confident communicator, skilled at taking minutes and maintaining data base information.

Initially the post holder will operate from the main campus at Preston for a period of time before transition to Burnley Campus. Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview.

School/Service: Academic Registry

Hours: Full Time (36.25 hours per week - 1.0 FTE)

Basis: Fixed term contract for 2 years

Interview Date: To be confirmed
