University of Kent - Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience)

The University of Kent is characterised by a distinctive combination of excellence in research, teaching and the student experience, and with a uniquely international perspective.   It has a gold TEF rating, and 95% of its students are in full time employment six months after completion.   In REF 2014, 97% of its submitted research was rated as internationally excellent.

As well as its core campuses in Canterbury and Medway, the University led the sector in developing several European centres, which are now well-developed and thriving.   It has around 20,000 students and 6,000 staff.
The University is looking for a new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) to join the senior leadership team of the University. The appointee will provide strategic leadership to continue the success of the University in providing excellent student experience and be responsible for developing and delivering further innovations in educational programmes. A key focus will be delivering the University’s ambition to be a leading civic university, delivering an outstanding student experience and outcomes and world-leading research. The appointee will work closely with colleagues on the senior team and across the institution, supporting Kent’s development as one of the best universities in the country for education and student experience.

We are looking for candidates with ambition and commitment to student success who are already experienced academic leaders, able to provide evidence of working collaboratively with colleagues across an institution. An inspirational, visionary perspective of the student lifecycle with a passion for the complete student experience will be critical, alongside demonstrable commitment to innovation in education and for support for students outside the curricula.

This role is fixed term and full-time for 5 years with an underlying ongoing academic contract.
