Lecturer in Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology (HSDST)

Job Description
National University of Singapore's Tembusu College invites applications for College Fellows, to be appointed as Lecturer on the Educator Track. Applicants from all academic disciplines are welcome.

Tembusu College Fellows are passionate teachers who are student-centred and actively engaged in the College’s learning community in and out of the classroom. Full-time Fellows also support the running of the College through leading on key administrative tasks. They typically possess a PhD and are able to teach modules related to Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology (HSDST) or other topics relevant to the College curriculum.

They pursue their research and teaching interests through small-class, seminar-based teaching.

College Fellow positions give the recipient the opportunity to engage with undergraduate students to support their intellectual and holistic growth. To this end, applicants should demonstrate a desire to pursue a career as an educator who is reflective, committed to student development and driven by their own intellectual interests.

Ideal candidates will be team players who have prior teaching experience, a relevant postgraduate qualification, demonstrated commitment to students, and experience with leading on or actively carrying out administrative tasks.
Tembusu College at NUS offers an array of seminar-style courses to fulfill students' General Education graduation requirements. Fellow positions include responsibility for teaching or co-teaching Junior or Senior Seminars for Year 1 and Year 2 undergraduate students respectively and leading on or supporting key College administrative functions. Such functions include, but are not limited to, admissions, alumni relations and Year 3 and Year 4 educational programme coordination. Typically, Fellows teach two modules in any one semester and lead on or contribute to one or two administrative functions in any academic year. The total teaching responsibility is typically four semester-length seminars (not lectures); each seminar group consists of approximately 15 students.
