Applications are invited for the role of Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care in the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health, Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The Blizard Institute is the largest institute of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service. 

As part of a Barts Charity funded programme on Research Enabled Learning Health for Cardiovascular Disease (REAL-CVD Health) we are seeking to appoint a clinical lecturer in primary care.  The post holder will work under the supervision of the principal investigator Dr John Robson to undertake the following.  

  • Develop a programme of research and implementation of improved management of cardiovascular disease in the local health economy to internationally excellent standards.
  • Plan, design and implement projects with collaborators as appropriate
  • Work with a range of stakeholders in the local health economy to plan, implement and evaluate this programme
  • Contribute to and submit grant applications and publications in high quality journals with dissemination through local and national meetings, conferences and related media outlets.
  • Contribute to the professional and educational development of colleagues and QMUL students.

We are seeking someone who is registered with the GMC and qualified as a general practitioner and has been in active clinical practice preferably with experience in inner urban populations. The applicant should have a PhD in a biomedical related science and experience in research methods and of conducting research studies with peer reviewed publication in journals of national or international relevance

The post is a part time (0.4 FTE) fixed term appointment for 30 months, with an expected start date of 01 October 2019. Starting salary will be in the range of £77,913-£93,459 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
