Coventry University is an award-winning modern university that is innovative and dynamic. In the last few years, we have broken the mould in order to widen the reach and quality of our education provision- opening campuses in the West Midlands, Central and East London, and Yorkshire, that offer a different, life-shaped approach to learning. We have invested significantly, in partnership with business and research bodies, in the facilities and places where our students, graduates and staff work together.

Our awards and successes demonstrate our commitment to quality teaching and learning, outstanding student satisfaction and to producing globally-ready graduates. Recognised as one of the UK's leading universities, we were awarded Gold for Outstanding Teaching and Learning in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework and five stars for Teaching Excellence in the QS Survey 2017.

Coventry has developed a fantastic reputation as a leader for the student experience in UK higher education through great staff and students working together to build course communities. The education strategy is built on the institutional tradition of learning by doing and through enquiry. Our new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Education and Students (DVC) will be responsible for providing direction, leadership and overall management of the education and student experience portfolio for Coventry University Group. The role represents an opportunity to take our reputation to the next level, using the foundation to develop evermore confident graduates who know that their place is driving their professions and passions forward. With education technology and innovation core to our offer, our new DVC will ensure that we are at the forefront of this field.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful period in a senior leadership role within a large, matrix organisation and evidence significant experience leading academic activities and complex decision-making, and with an international focus. Candidates’ understanding of data innovation and how to personalise the learning of our students is important, as are communication and relationship building skills and an ability to motivate others across the University Group to ensure continued ‘sector-leading’ performance.
