Part Time & Term Time Only Role- £15,208.65 per annum (Based on the FTE £33,797 per annum)
Hours: Full Time Role - 36 hours per week
Part Time & Term Time Only Role- 21.6 hours per week during Term Time

The Student Services team is dedicated to assisting, guiding and supporting students throughout their time at St Mary’s and beyond. We provide a range of advisory and professional services, spanning wellbeing, student life and support. These include Accommodation, Counselling, Disability & Dyslexia, Student Funding, Pastoral Support and the on-site Health Centre, which is run by the York Medical Practice.

St Mary’s University is seeking to appoint a fully qualified, experienced counsellor to provide brief, focussed counselling and wellbeing support to a diverse range of students. The Counsellor/Wellbeing Practitioner will provide a holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of our students, providing counselling, practical support, pastoral care, advice and guidance.

You will be an accredited member of the BACP/UKCP or close to achieving this. You should have extensive counselling experience and an excellent understanding of: severe emotional, psychological mental health disorders including; depression, anxiety, self-harm and eating disorders. You will have experience of providing short term counselling to young adults, preferably in an educational setting, understanding the needs and developmental issues that commonly occur.

You will also have excellent communication, IT and administration skills and demonstrate flexibility and creativity. It is important to be proactive and confident at taking the initiative, working both as part of a team and independently. The capacity to manage an individual caseload is essential.
