The Office of External Relations is a collaborative and entrepreneurial team committed to a donor-centric approach to development. External Relations is made up of major gifts, annual giving, alumni relations, and Donor Relations and Development Communications.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Donor Relations & Development Communications Coordinator is a key member of the Stanford Law School External Relations team, principally supporting the areas of Stewardship and Development Communications. Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations & Development Communications, you will play an integral role in delivering on and continuously enhancing Stanford Law School’s commitment to the outstanding stewardship of its donors, including timely and accurate recognition of their gifts. Key aspects of this role include writing all thank you notes and cards for donors to the law school, managing stewardship event registration and communications, gift fund data, analytical reporting, and providing a full range of administrative support for the Donor Relations & Development Communications team. To succeed in this role, you must be a strong team player and develop a thorough understanding of the Office of External Relations’ objectives, priorities, and projects.

CORE DUTIES*:

  • Develop knowledge of the Donor Relations & Development Communications area at the Law School, as well as an understanding of how it relates to schools and departments around the university.
  • Enter and maintain accurate database information on individual gift accounts to ensure accurate recognition and stewardship; identify and remedy inaccuracies in gift or pledge records.
  • Assist in drafting donor and general correspondence for the Dean and Senior Associate Dean using existing templates.
  • Research, and produce donor listings for events and communications as necessary.
  • Establish new/maintain existing gift funds and related documentation, including drafting and vetting donor pledge agreements with Stanford’s Office of Planned Giving.
  • Assist with donor relations events and external relations events, including creating invitation lists, drafting event communication, managing RSVPs, preparation of attendee bios, coordinating with vendors, and staffing.
  • Respond to inquiries from fundraisers and donors about donor giving histories, backgrounds, etc.
  • Assist in the production of high volume annual reporting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to listen and respond with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong customer-service focus; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, use a telephone.
  • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-commercial Class drivers license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
