Applications are invited for the post of Professor in Human Neuroscience at the Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway, University of London. This post (along with several others for which we are currently recruiting) will consolidate and enhance the department’s reputation as an internationally leading centre for excellence in research and teaching in Psychological Science and Neuroscience.

We are looking for an outstanding individual with an international reputation for research in the area of Human Neuroscience, and expertise in functional brain imaging techniques (e.g. fMRI, ERP/EEG) and/or brain stimulation. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with expertise in social neuroscience, developmental neuroscience or cognitive neuroscience, but applications will be considered from outstanding applicants in any area of Human Neuroscience. The successful applicant’s track record will include publications in high-impact journals and significant success in grant capture. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with a proven track record of research collaborations across different sub-disciplines of psychological science and/or other disciplines. The successful applicant will also possess the broad range of skills required to teach effectively across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and should demonstrate strong commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for our students. The successful applicant will be able to contribute to the leadership of the Department’s future neuroscience research strategy.

In return, we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities, as well as the potential for the successful applicant to develop our profile in their area of expertise through contributing to the recruitment of a future academic post. We offer a dynamic and supportive environment, in an internationally recognized department that ranks among the best in the UK for research (6th among UK Psychology departments in REF 2014) and receives very strong ratings from our students for teaching (UK NSS). The Department has excellent, state-of-the-art, well-supported facilities for undertaking research in a broad range of areas, such as MRI, EEG, TMS, eye trackers, behavioral testing suites, social and infant observation labs. It also has strong links with clinical organisations, as well as government, industrial, and charity affiliations. The Department also holds a prestigious Silver Athena SWAN award. The College was ranked in the top 200 in the Times World University Rankings 2018 and is one of the few UK Universities to hold a Race Equality Charter award.

This is a full time and permanent post based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and Heathrow Airport, and within commuting distance from London.
