About the opportunity 

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Surgery. Working under the broad direction of the Associate Head for Clinical Services, the appointee will provide leadership and coordination, delivery and assessment of veterinary surgery to DVM1, 2, 3 and 4, in the context of the veterinary surgery teaching team. Provide specialist level veterinary surgery clinical service to clients of the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals in Sydney and Camden.  Be actively engaged in high quality research to the discipline area of Veterinary Surgery.

The position operates across both Camden and Camperdown campus.

• A PhD or equivalent specialist veterinary surgeon qualifications
• Veterinary Science degree registered to practice in New South Wales
• High level of Veterinary surgical skills and capacity to communicate and instruct practical surgery as well as perform didactic teaching activities

The School has established and advanced the standard for primary and specialty practice in Australia, through its 5000 plus graduates, continuing education and its clinical services, as the only veterinary school in the Southern Hemisphere to operate continuously since 1910. Furthermore, the SSVS is a leader in animal health and production research with accredited research laboratory and field facilities across Camperdown and Camden campuses. 

The School delivers an innovative 4-year graduate entry Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, with graduates eligible for registration as veterinary practitioners. This DVM degree program is tasked to graduate veterinarians with a global perspective who are evidence-based practitioners and life-long learners with clinical and research skills allowing them to contribute throughout their careers to animal health and welfare and to human health in a one health framework at local, national and global levels.
