Position Focus:
Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Practice Manager of Internal Medicine, manage a variety of functions related to the successful clinical practice management and workflows for the clinical services in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Serve as a liaison to Yale Medicine centralized service departments (Credentialing, Project Management, and Patient Financial Services) to track issues resulting in new and improved workflows and processes to optimize clinical success. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing closure of clinical encounters, reporting on YM provider metrics, optimizing available reports for streamlined data and providing data analysis and recommendations; managing distribution of Press-Ganey data and providing appropriate problem resolution as needed; Internal Medicine HIPAA liaison managing federal regulations updates; managing the on-boarding of new clinical faculty and APPs as well as maintaining credentialed status of all current providers; managing medical record requests.
Essential Duties
- Serves as the liaison between new faculty, YNHH and YMG. Coordinates administrative activities including clinical scheduling and contract credentialing.
- Monitors and enforces YMG Policies and Procedures, Practice Standards, HIPAA regulations and Billing Compliance standards throughout all operational activities.
- Responsible for ensuring that new faculty billing areas are built in the EMR system and coordination of appropriate access and training. Develops processes to streamline communications between EMR team, physicians, and clinical staff.
- Collects and analyzes EMR metrics for all faculty and ensures adherence to dashboard benchmarks.
- Monitors patient satisfaction through surveys and other feedback. Identifies and responds to issues to improve department specific performance goals.
- Participates in the management of staff, patient relations and answering service questions and concerns.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and four years related work experience in a health care environment or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Ability to communicate information effectively, both oral and written, within a multifaceted and complex environment with a high degree of interpersonal ability to communicate with various levels (faculty to staff) within the organization.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated knowledge of medical office/hospital systems, medical record management software (EPIC preferred), Microsoft Office, business intelligence tools and related software applications.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Ability to analyze and interpret detailed reports, develop clear conclusions and summarize findings. Ability to work, plan, research and conduct projects with minimal supervision.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a cross-functional team to achieve common goals. Ability to lead team projects as well as the ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to manage multiple tasks and meet timely deadlines.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Extensive knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology and third party payer requirements.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
EPIC or other EHR experience preferred.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
CPC certification preferred.
