We are seeking an inspirational leader to maximise the opportunities for ground-breaking interdisciplinary research offered by the unique combination of skills and interests represented within the Centre. The Centre combines three research strands,' Cultural Memory,' Well-being and the Arts', and 'Arts, Practices and Communities'.

The University has made a significant investment in this new venture. The Centre has more than 18 associates in a variety of disciplines, and numerous associated PhD students.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of an enterprise which sits at the heart of the faculty's research strategy and reaches out to a great city, and to the world beyond.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and ultimately to the DVC for Research, the postholder will have responsibility for every aspect of the running of the Centre,and in particular for establishing and growing a portfolio of research for the Centre which will firmly establish it as world leading, supporting the main research themes of 'Cultural Memory', 'Well-being and the Arts' and 'Arts, Practices and Communities'. This portfolio will contain internally and externally funded research.

In addition, the post holder will have responsibility for line managing the core Centre staff, for overseeing there search of associated members of staff, and for developing the portfolio of post-graduate education up to and including doctoral level.
