DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONSMIT Innovation Initiative (MITii), to lead the creation and implementation of MITii’s communications and outreach strategies. Will be responsible for the full range of communications--both internal and external--that promote the initiative’s role as a connector across the MIT innovation and entrepreneurship landscape and share MIT’s mission and achievements in this domain on a global scale; integrate digital and print communications with external relations to maximize impact; and work with the executive director and faculty to promote a wide range of programs and activities to build the MITii brand and to grow and maintain its leadership role in the innovation community across MIT. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing execution of marketing and communications strategy; designing, writing, and producing communications in a variety of mediums; and developing collaborative relationships within and outside MIT. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in a related field; at least seven years’ progressive marketing and communications experience; proficiency with a range of communications strategies/tools, including digital channels, new media, and social media; proven ability to design and implement innovative marketing and communications campaigns on-time and on-budget; a strategic approach to communications; a desire to collaborate with and support the entire team and its programs and projects; ability to operate effectively on all levels, serve as a thought and peer leader, and forge productive relationships and align strategies in a complex environment; a desire to make an impact on MIT students, faculty and staff; self-motivation and ability to operate successfully in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment; and excellent project management and oral and written communication skills. Journalism/writing experience is preferred. Job #17872-9
