The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is a public university funded by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) within Iraq (www.krg.org). It is committed to excellence in teaching and research. It offers education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to students from all over Kurdistan.

In line with striving to reach academic excellence on an international level, UKH is constantly considered among the leading research and teaching institution by the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education and has achieved number one regional institution ranking for 2017 - 2018. The University is seeking to obtain international accreditation and currently working towards ABET accreditation for the University’s School of Science and Engineering (UKH SSE).

Along with meeting international standards in academic management, the University plans to expand to a new campus through millions of dollars as an initial investment. While in its development and expansion phase, the University’s R&D team expects the regions exceptional students to be studying and earning degrees at this state-of-the-art campus. To support the University’s strategic development within the next five years, the University is now seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified candidate to fill in the position of Dean for the School of Science and Engineering. The candidate will be expected, along with the Deputy Rectors to provide strategic development plans for the approval of the leadership of the University in support of the Chancellor’s vision for the University. As such, the successful candidate will aim to provide an innovative learning community for the School of Science and Engineering and preparing the school’s students for Kurdistan’s market.

Minimum Qualifications:

This prospective full-time staff member will have the following minimum qualifications, skills and competencies:

Earned a Doctorate degree in Science and/or Engineering, Education or a related field. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated management expertise with higher education institution(s). They should also be fluent in English with well-developed interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to native-level English speakers. Areas of specialization are open, but applicants with expertise in deanship with higher education institution(s) are preferred. Individuals with strong organization and time management skills are encouraged to apply. Candidates that hold PhD in Science and/or Engineering, Education Leadership or related field are especially encouraged to apply.
