Overview:

Applications are invited for the role of Research Technician in the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The Blizard Institute is the largest institute of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

A collaboration has developed to study the role of gut brain interactions in the progression of symptoms and signs of motor neuron disease. The post-holder will be involved in all aspects of the in vitro and in vivo studies. Applicants should be familiar with the collection of human samples, administration of validated questionnaires, and simple physiological methods. The post-holder will ideally have a degree level qualification and previous experience in clinical research involving patient contact and collection of biological samples. Applicants must have experience with standard laboratory equipment and be competent in a range of technical support activities.

The post is a part time (17.5 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 2 years, available to start as soon as possible. Starting salary will be in the range of £21,696 - £26,556 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
