Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) is a faculty of Queen Mary University of London, one of the three largest colleges of the University of London, and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. The School is ranked 3rd in the UK for Medicine (Guardian University Guide 2018) and now offers a five-year MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) in Medicine from our new campus on Gozo, Malta. QMUL (Malta) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Queen Mary, operating several sites in Malta including our brand-new, state-of-the-art medical school on the Queen Mary Malta Campus.

Applications are invited for the post of Malta-based Business Development Manager on a two-year fixed-term basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Queen Mary Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Malta campus. The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to develop partnership working, to prospect for new clients and thereby maximize opportunities to utilize the new Queen Mary Malta campus building, while raising awareness of the opportunities to be had from collaboration with Queen Mary. The post holder will contribute to stakeholder engagement, and will build local community engagement. An important part of the role will be to work with the Malta Marketing Manager to support the recruitment of students to the Malta MBBS programme.

The post holder will work closely with our academic community, providing a high-level of client focus, to develop and maintain key partnerships and commercial opportunities. This will require the identification of business partners and funding opportunities; attending and organizing relevant meetings and events; supporting high quality bids and advising on opportunities to further develop partnership activities. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside a proactive, creative approach. Ideally, you will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, gained through working in a similar role in a university or commercial environment. A flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a range of duties is essential. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate a methodical approach to work with the ability to produce written reports and manage data across a variety of systems.

This post will be employed by QMUL Malta Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of Queen Mary University of London and will be based in Malta. The post is full-time and based upon a notional 35 hours per week. The salary range is €37,000-44,500 euros per annum. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave.
