Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for the graduate/MSc candidate, working with academic support as part of a collaborative project to conductre search in the area of corporate board level decision making for cyber readiness for organisations. The 'Cyber Readiness for Boards (CRfB)' project isled by the Systems Security Group at Coventry University, as part of a consortium led by UCL and involving Reading University. This position is a 24 month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a diverse research team, for candidates aspiring to step on to a research ladder. Expertise and experience in maritime, international security and relations, and maritime cyber security is particularly welcome.

About CRfB:

Cyber Readiness for Boards (CRfB) is a two-year project funded jointly by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF). Apart from UCL and Reading universities, the project also involves AXELOS as an industry partner.

Qualifications we require:

Good degree (1st class or 2.1) in an appropriate subject such as international security or international relations

Or

BA or MA in an appropriate subjects in social sciences, international security and relations, maritime security

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Experience or significant interest in the field of maritime, international security and relations, and maritime cyber security
  • Interest in social science research methods including interview and focus groups
  • Applied knowledge of research management and team collaboration tools and techniques
  • Proficiency in statistical packages such Microsoft Excel/SPSS

Essential skills we require asa minimum:

  • Ability to carry out research tasks under appropriate supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly andtake responsibility for the project
  • Ability to work with colleagues in a collaborating university environment and corporate boards to ensure wider impact from scientific effort
