Job description

The Research Management and Administration Unit [RMAU] is a centrally managed Unit, which as part of Research Services is responsible for Research Project Management, Administration and Governance of University Research across University Research Centres.

This opportunity is based in the Institute of Future Transport and Cities and will be based in the University Research Centre Support Team. You will be part of a small friendly team responsible for providing professional administrative services to support a variety of activities for the 5 Research Clusters.

You will be the first point of contact and support for academic staff and PhD students on research related enquiries. Working with colleagues, you will take responsibility for managing a shared inbox, booking travel, servicing committees and meetings, managing diaries and processing payments and expenses through the University's finance system. In addition you will have the opportunity to get involved in and support research events and projects.

You should be qualified to A Level standard or equivalent and/or have substantial relevant demonstrable experience gained working within a research and/or education sector. Significant experience of using Microsoft Office and a variety of software packages and computerised management information systems are essential. You will be able to demonstrate substantial experience of and competence in using MS Excel along with demonstrable experience of data handling including data collection, input to electronic systems, analysing, interpreting and manipulating data and producing reports

You should be a strong team player and have strong communication skills. You should be comfortable working under pressure, prioritising work and co-ordinating and managing complex activities to meet competing deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to use your own initiative are essential.

This post is initially on a 6 month fixed term contract with potential for extension or permanent role to the right individual.
