TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, Koch Institute for Integrated Cancer Research-Yaffe Laboratory, to working closely with a senior lab member to perform in vivo mouse tumor studies and cell culture experiments involving CRISPR tools and therapeutic nanoparticles.  Responsibilities include organizing and performing a broad range of laboratory experiments, using routine and specialized techniques including development and maintenance of mouse tumor and human PDX models, injection of nanoparticles, viral delivery of CRISPR reagents and novel anti-cancer therapeutics into mice and target tumors, tissue culture techniques, dissection of mice and cell culture, production and use of virus, molecular cloning, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, and other biochemical/molecular assays; participating in formulating research methods and suggesting options for improving quality; modifying and/or developing protocols/procedures/techniques/applications of technology; analyzing, synthesizing, interpreting, and documenting results; presenting research findings; preparing/collaborating on articles for publication; statistical and multivariate analysis; and evaluating experiment results/research findings.  

The Yaffe Laboratory studies the systems biology and systems pharmacology of cancer by measuring cell signaling pathways in cell culture, mouse models, and human tumor samples. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in related field; at least four years’ related lab experience; deep understanding of safety policies and procedures; broad knowledge of the work done in the labs; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience collaborating with a diverse group of researchers/trainees; and experience conducting and applying online research to projects.  May exert light-to-medium amount of force to move objects of 10-20 lbs. Work may require mobility to accomplish some tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from site to site. Experience with mouse cancer models, signal transduction biochemistry, and relevant molecular biology and cell culture techniques would be ideal.  Job #17753
